I bought the two camera process and this camera is Super! Yes you have to run a wire to power it (Duh!). But the signal is sent through 2.4ghz. RF (the wireless component). You can mount the small DVR anywhere that you can get reception. I have mine down in the Den subsequent to my recliner, but, you can move it readily if you will need to monitor from, say, the kitchen. The two way "intercom" is great to have!
If you have to have power outage protection, you will need to have to install a ups power outlet for every single camera (use a single for a pc and hook the camera supply into the outlet from the ups)
I set up the program and installed 2 cameras in an afternoon with no any tension. It did take a little arranging, but, it was definitely straightforward.
It is a lot more affordable than the multi thousand dollar systems. And the photos (even following dark) are spectacular!
I have this up and running for one month and it is good...the picture top quality is great, sound high quality good, and night vision is really good, I would order this once again..A+
